Mazda Roadster 1.8 Mk2 10th Anniversary
One of my favourite Mk2 special edition models is the 1999 1.8 10th Anniversary simply because its a great colour and the specification is terrific. Only 7500 were produced and just 600 were sold in the UK and the problem is that most have simply rusted away.
Thats not the case with this one though: this was one of the 500 cars produced for the Japanese market (most 10th Anniversary models went o the US or mainland Europe). We imported this very car from Japan in 2014 and its been owned by the same chap ever since until this week, when I acquired it. It means that it simply doesn’t have the rust problems usually associated with the MK2 model.
Its covered an indicated 135882 km (around 85000 miles) and is in lovely condition throughout. Specification is particularly good and includes a six speed gearbox, Torsen lsd and Bilstein suspension. Inside it has black leather seats with blue suede inserts, blue carpets and gear selector gaiter, electric windows, power steering, electric mirrors, dual airbags, central locking, blue/black Nardi steering wheel and this one even has its original blue 10th Anniversary carpet mats. It also has its original 15” polished alloys fitted along with a blue vinyl soft top (fitted by us when we imported it).
Included is a collection of paperwork including its original service book and handbook (both in Japanese), a big pile of receipts and it even has its original Certificate of Authenticity from Mazda confirming that this is car no 112 of 7500.
Its always been garaged and always been well looked after. It looks lovely, is in super condition and drives wonderfully well. Things like the front chassis rails, usually rotten on a Mk2, are in excellent solid condition. As usual I have a few minor jobs to take care of but its becoming hard to find good Mk2s these day and I suspect someone will place a deposit on this long before its ready. Price is £4750.
More photos to follow.
