FRESH IMPORT: Eunos 1.6 S-Special 1992
This is a rare opportunity to buy a freshly imported Mazda Eunos Mk1 in fabulous rust-free condition. I have imported this 1992 Mazda Eunos 1.6 S-Special from Japan and I reckon its one of the very last Mazda Eunos to be imported from there as prices have gone so high, its now become economically near-impossible to continue to buy from there. The whole point of importing cars from (the right part) of Japan is that they are rust-free and this one certainly is, with a wonderfully clean underside and bodyshell. Underneath its in exceptional condition and some way better than your average 30 year old Eunos. In fact I reckon its one of the best Eunos we’ve ever imported.
I'm currently preparing the car for sale and this will include a service, new MOT and UK registration: it will be supplied correctly registered and on UK plates, ready for you to drive away and enjoy.
As mentioned its very good indeed - the underside is particularly clean - in fact I'd say spectacularly clean. Its fitted with some very interesting JDM parts that really help improve the car in every way. For starters, its sitting on adjustable Tein suspension: this is a high quality set up and it drives and handles very well indeed. It also has a set of very rare, very light and very sought-after Japanese Works Equip 14" alloy wheels which look fantastic and suit the car so well. These are some £1300 a set - if you can find them. These are in very good condition with no scuffs or damage to the rims. I'll be fitting a new set of premium brand tyres to these too.
The Brilliant Black bodywork is in excellent condition - there is zero rust on any of the panels and the usual problem areas of sills and wheel arches are in fabulous ultra-clean and rust-free condition. All of the original spot welds are intact as are all of the correct seams showing nothing has been repaired over the years.
The interior is also exceptionally good: there is next to no wear on the seats or carpets and all trim is in lovely clean condition. It has its original Nardi leather rimmed steering wheel along with matching Nardi gear knob. It still has its original stereo system but this is a little tired and I will be replacing this with a modern unit. I will however include the original with the car for the sake of originality. Everything works as it should - even the air conditioning blows ice cold. I have cleaned and lubricated the electric windows. It also has its original S-Special carpet mats fitted.
At the moment it has a tan soft top fitted and I'm going to replace this as its showing its age. However the tan colour works really well so I'm in two minds whether to replace with a new tan one or revert back to a black soft top. Ideally, I'd like to give the buyer the choice of colour.
Its covered around 120,000 miles but please don't let this put you off: it works out to around 4400 miles a year and the car has clearly been very well looked after. I'll guarantee that this car is in substantially better condition than 95% of Mk1 s currently on the road in the UK, irrespective of mileage.
I want to talk about the underside again – its such a big deal on any MX5or Eunos and the state of this goes along way to determine the price of any Eunos. If you look carefully at the photos, you’ll see that all nuts and bolts etc are in excellent condition. It means that if any components need repairing in future, everything can be disassembled with handle tools without having to revert to angle grinders and cutting equipment – which is often the case with rusty cars. This car hasn’t been repaired or restored: its simply in fantastic original rust-free condition.
Its worth thinking about future rust protection: I always treat my fresh imports with Dynax which is about the best stuff there is for keeping corrosion at bay. I’m happy to do this free of charge on this car if required.
I have a collection of Japanese paperwork and I have the export certificate which confirms the car mileage at various points in its life while in Japan. The car is complete with its original toolkit, jack , wheel brace etc.
I have years of experience in importing cars from Japan – over the last few years I have imported dozens of Mazda Eunos, Skyline R32, Mazda RX7, Mitsubishi Evo, Impreza, Pajero Evo as well as various big Mercedes saloons.
This is a rare opportunity to buy an exceptionally clean Eunos and price is £8500 to include UK registration and be ready to use on UK roads. Contact me for more details. Any inspection is welcome and I’m happy to answer any questions.
