Mazda Eunos 1.8 - Chaste White
This 1994 Eunos 1.8 S-Special is now available. Its finished in Chaste White with black cloth trim and while it started life as an S-Special, its spec has changed over the years.
Specification includes electric windows, power steering, stainless steel sill covers and door speaker surrounds, Momo steering wheel and chrome door mirrors. Bodywork and paintwork are both very good. Its certainly had various repairs in the past, both to sills and floors but I have have had a very good look at these and everything is solid and sound. In fact its quite tidy underneath and has been treated with Dinitrol. I'll usually try and mention any scratches or dents but on this one, there simply aren't any: the paintwork is very good indeed. Wheel arches, sills, wings etc are all in good order and its genuinely a very good looking, solid car.
The most obvious changes are to the suspension as its now fitted with Maxpeeding adjustable coil-overs. These are a touch stiffer and lower than standard and it certainly handles very well. But even more obvious than that is the Malian stainless steel exhaust system which makes itself known the second you start the car up. At tickover, it rumbles with a deep note sounding closer to a straight six than to a Mazda four pot. But when you hang on to the gears, the sound changes in pitch and it really sings. Its a bit louder than a standard car - too loud for some people but then I know others will love it. Actually it has an adjustable baffle fitted and I currently have this set at its quietest setting and it sounds good.
The interior feels nice with good clean seats, trim and carpets. It also has a decent Panasonic stereo fitted which sounds good. The soft top is black mohair with a zip-out plastic screen and this is in good order. Tyres are Pirellis all round and the 14" 'hollow spoke' alloys suit it well. Inside everything works as it should (except the air conditioning, which works but simply isn't cold). The electric window mechanisms have just been cleaned and greased. The boot is reasonably smart and tidy though unusually someone has stuck sound deadening pads onto the underside of the boot lid (where it will make little difference to anything!)
The car really does drive very well and flies along nicely with particularly sharp handling. Its covered around 130,000 miles and has just had a big service which included new spark plugs, oil and filter, gearbox oil and front wheel bearing and its MOT tested until April 2026. In the last two or three years, its had a new clutch, new clutch master and slave cylinders, new brake discs and pads, new radiator and various ball joints have been replaced. I have covered a good 250 miles in this in all sorts of road conditions and I know it drives extremely well. The engine in particular feels really strong and its happy to sit at today's motorway speeds all day long. Its even happier blasting along a country lane though where it will easily rev to the red line all day long. Its just great fun to drive and I have prepared it so that its ready to be used and enjoyed without any extra expense needed.
